Horst - we got to sleep in today. Did not wake up until 8.15 and then down for a leisurely breakfast. Still raining in Whistler but we braved the elements with umbrellas in hand and walked quite a distance to the upper village and through some forest, but no bears. Can not believe how strong mountain biking is here. There were some mad people putting their bikes on the chairlift and the riding down in all the mud and rain. Also saw some bikes for sale at upwards of $5,000.
At one pm we left beautiful Whistler and headed off down the fairly new Sea to Sky Highway that they built for the 2010 Winter Olympics. Some very pretty scenery along the coastline and a stop at Shannon Falls which was very pretty with lots of water flowing over the falls.
Arrived back at The Fairmont and embarrassed ourselves when we got off on the second floor to find room 2323 but could only find the very flash suites. We were on the 23rd floor. We then went for a walk to Gastown where we saw the gas clock and lots of other old buildings. Also tried a Tim Horton doughnut - much nicer than our doughnuts. Walked to Canada Place where we saw the Olympic Flame but alas did not have the $10,000 to pay to have it lit.
Another group dinner tonight to farewell no one as all the group is continuing on with the Alaska Cruise.
