Glacier Bay in sunshine

Up early and had breakfast in room so we could go up to deck 18 at 7.00 am. Stunning scenery of glacial valleys, hanging valleys and eventually a couple of glaciers. The ship stopped near Lamplugh Glacier and the ship turned 360 degrees to allow everyone to have a good view. Sailed further into Glacier Bay to Margerie Glacier which was 250 feet tall and a mile wide and the ship stopped for quite a while and we heard the loud gunshot sounds and saw quite a few bits of ice calve into the sea. They looked really small but I suspect they were actually quite big chunks of ice.

After about 45 minutes looking at the glacier the ship turned around and headed back out of the bay. We grabbed some pizza and salad for lunch and spent a lot of time looking at the stunning scenery. Went for afternoon tea with some of the group but that was a bad idea as we did not need any more food. We think we saw a whale from a distance and spent the rest of the afternoon looking at the sea and view.

Had dinner and on way back to room saw a whale breaching quite near the ship with its tail slapping the water. Spent a little time outside looking for wildlife, but it is a big ocean.
