Six o'clock start and I just want to sleep in. Headed off in the bus on some very windy back roads on the way to Whistler. Passed through some First Nations lands and saw a couple of pow wow houses for the groups. The scenery changed from snowy peaks to rugged canyon lands although in some places there were rugged dry, Rocky Mountains and fertile green valleys where the Fraser River ran through. We passed Kamloops Lake and ended up in a small town where Shirley provided us with sandwiches in a park, complete with tablecloths and flowers. Walked around the town for a short while and then headed on down some steep hills and saw some spectacular views of the Fraser River.
On the way Glenn provided us all with a taste of maple syrup biscuits, lollies and apple juice.
We arrived in Whistler about 4.00 pm and were greeted with fruit juice at yet another very flash hotel. A great room which has full kitchen facilities including a dish washer and oven, but no free internet access. Tony and I went for a brisk walk in the drizzling rain to see the Olympic Plaza where the rings are on display and the symbol from the 2010 Paralympic Games.
Whistler is a very chic town and famous for its après ski parties. We also could not believe how many bikes and mountain bikers there were here.
Another beautiful three corse dinner and hopefully my stomach will not be upset by the rich food again.
