A long bus trip today from Banff descending from the Rockies and passing through three more National Parks. Drove through Kicking Horse Pass and saw some more beautiful lakes and mountains. Stopped at a small museum in Yoho National Park and saw the guns they use to set off deliberate avalanches. Travelled through avalanche country and we counted tunnels which prevent snow falling on roads and blocking them. Also saw evidence of a big mudslide which had disrupted traffic for a while.
Had lunch at a lovely spot called Three Valley Gap and then strolled through gardens and around bit of the lake. Next stop was at Craigellachie which is famous because it was here that the Canadian Pacific Railway was completed and Tony reenacted the hitting of the last spike on November 7th 1885.
For over an hour we followed along the shore of Lake Shuswap (not the place where the local First Nation People gathered to swap moccasins) and it was certainly a centre for water activities. There were lots of houseboats and plenty of RV parks.
Arrived in pretty Sun Peaks late in afternoon and went for short walk around village and past parts of the golf course. We think we saw a bear way, way off in the distance on one of the ski runs.
Lovely dinner in dining room, served once again by an Aussie who explained how the tipping works.
